I am really going to try harder to be more regular in my postings.
Things are going great here at AFTEC. The program keeps growing and we keep learning. We took some time off in early August and now we're back in the swing of things.
One new development is that we are beginning to offer opportunities for Significant Others of vets and soldiers to come together and develop their horsemanship skills. This program doesn't have a name yet- help me think of something appropriate. The idea is that the families of soldiers also struggle with the effects of PTSD. So if you're interested give us a call and we'll get you started. The program will involve on the ground horsemanship lessons leading to riding and trail riding. The vet does not have to be involved in the Horses for Heroes Program.
We had great fun at the Madison County Fair. Our booth was lively with chatter and one generous soul bought $100 worth of AFTEC t shirts to give away to AFTEC volunteers and passersby. Next year we want to see some of our participants competing in the Obstacle Course at the Horse Show. With our horses it'll be a cinch!!
The volunteer handbook is now on the web page and ready for printing.
