We had a great Friday and Saturday working at the new site.
On Friday, during sleet and slogging through puddles Peggy, Charlie Mark and I removed the fence at the restricted area paddock and moved it to the new pasture.  George and Abby came later and we policed the pasture and developed action plans for the "working" Saturday.
On Saturday, with a group of about 15 volunteers, we pulled grapevines, fenced around a gully, created paddocks for holding and feeding  areas, cleared brush, logs and sticks, did some mowing, moved Roy, Woody and Jack and had a board meeting.
Jim and Nancy Adamson brought lunch for the crew-  (We thank them so much for their thoughtfulness and generosity!).
The big mares, Debbie and Dena will be moved on Monday, plan A.
The Battlefield Center Site is looking great and we want to thank everyone who worked so hard to help!
We will be checking on availability of a conference room at the MWR offices for volunteer orientations on Friday or Saturday March 18 and 19.  More on that later.
Happy Trails!

Hi All!
Things are moving quickly along!  Last week Mark met with Col Rogers and others at the proposed site of AFTEC/ BGAD Battlefield Center.  By the next day the Con-Xs had been moved, an old fence line had been bulldozed and the water tanks were being installed.  This week we will be moving the fencing on Wednesday and the horses on Friday.
This  Saturday we will be working on  making sure the pasture is safe for horses, moving limbs and brush, clipping eye-pokers and marking out the temporary riding arena.  David Wagoner will be contacting folks about work details, but if you don't hear from him just email him and let him know you wish to come.
This new site is really beautiful and hooked on to miles of roads and land for trails.  It's in the Admin Area so no more restrictions about who can be on site.  We hope to soon be riding there.
So many thanks to Col Rogers and the BGAD folks for their generosity!
     Happy Trails!

We had our first rides Friday and Saturday with 5 new riders!  Our wounded warrior rode as well as one of our riders from last year.  All of the rides went well and we were able to keep volunteers busy.  We do need to figure how to bring more horses into the picture so we can add more variety.  This is problematic as we are trailering them from either the mothership or the base and it's a long round  trip after a day of riding and with chores to do at home.
The arena shook and vibrated from wind and rain and the horses were a little disconcerted but behaved well.  A rainbow provided a good omen for the future.
We've been getting a lot of interest from the community for both riders and volunteers.  We'll be scheduling another volunteer orientation soon.
Thanks to everyone for their support!
